Improving the predictability and quality of software development is a concern of executives and managers. This two-day course provides participants with knowledge of key process improvement success factors and management's role in instituting and maintaining effective software development processes.

Who should attend:

Technical and non-technical managers who are responsible for, or depend upon, the work of software development teams.

Course Content

  • Introduction to software engineering process improvement (SEPI) concepts and methods
  • Management's role in SEPI
  • Managing efforts, schedules, and quality
  • The project team launch process
  • Planning and preparing for process improvement initiatives

Upon completion, you will:

  • Work effectively with self-directed software development teams that are using SEPI techniques
  • Interpret development team process and product measurements
  • Prepare for, and participate in, the management-related components of a team launch
  • Manage and support SEPI teams during project execution
  • Assist teams in integrating SEPI methods with organizational standards and practices
  • Plan for initial introduction and ongoing dissemination of SEPI in an organzation
