The BEC offers a Corporate Business & Product Development Practitioner Certificate for those individuals who are a part of a development team with vocational knowledge and background in their own area of expertise, but lack an understanding and working knowledge of the other member's duties and tasks. After completing the Practitioner Certificate, participants will expand their new product development knowledge through training and actual use of the concepts, processes and tools used in prosecuting a development program. The certificate provides a uniformed training to all members of a team to allow them to work more effectively as a team in a fast paced single pass development program.

Individuals who should attend the Corporate Business & Product Development Practitioner Certificate:
New hires, transfers, Associates needing skill development, and Individual contributors

Module One (Business Development)
Evaluating Market Opportunities (1 Day) - The Participants will evaluate different methods of generating new products such as brand label or joint venture along with planning and decision management relative to costs, market requirements, share and sales interface management.

Engaging your Customers (1 Day) - Participants will become well versed in the skills of engaging the customer to explore opportunities for new products and separate the wants, needs and absolutes in identifying parameters of these new product opportunities.

Module Two (Core Development)
Internal Systems for Rapidly Developing and Managing New Products (2 Days) - Participants will be able to launch a Beta Test program including the selection of Customer sites and the structured methods for retrieval of field information. In addition, they will understand the Engineering change process and the effect on manufacturing operations.

Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the documentation protocol for a Product Development Program. They will understand the importance of engaging issues, soliciting background data, and decision making in the disposition of issues. In addition, they will understand the application of products and the limits of applications.

Module Three (Program Management)
Competitive Assessments (1 Day) - Participants gain a clear understanding of the importance of competitive analysis and when to do the analysis. In addition, they will be able to format a program and product line and construct a chart.

Communication and Liability Management (1 Day) - Participants will understand the importance of protocol in Field Communications scenarios. They will be able to engage a Customer Representative to ferret out information about products, competition and the competitive arena. They will gain an appreciation for the product liability issue and how to mitigate the impact through decision making and documentation.

Upon completion of the Corporate Business & Product Development Practitioner Certificate, participants will:

  • Draw off of critical expertise available in the arena in a protected environment
  • Empower a Business Development Team to operate as a cohesive unit with interdisciplinary corporate goals
