Conduct 2 Kaizen Events

(Submission/Support)

Those individuals seeking Lean Master Facilitator Certification™, upon completion of the “Kaizen Team Leader” portion of the certification, are required to successfully complete 2 Kaizen events at their facility. These events must coincide with the Implementation plan submitted and are required to help the candidate gain experience completing improvement events while benefiting from the support of a Lean expert. The Lean expert reviews the submitted paperwork to make sure the candidate has laid the groundwork for a successful event as well as reviewing the post event paperwork to make sure the event follow-up is in place to ensure maximum organizational impact.

Candidates receive feedback and support when the following information is submitted:

Event Preparation

  • Complete and submit the "Event Preparation Checklist" to the BEC
  • Team package preparation to include: A clear definition of the problem and a set of quantifiable goals, product or part specifications/drawings, the customer’s requirements in pieces, the technical requirements of making the part at each operation or at each operation number, how many hours per day or per week the event site will be available for production, how to handle abnormal cell conditions, an event budget and how the team will purchase any required supplies, event support personnel contact list and the results of any prior kaizen events at the work site and more.

Event Conclusion

  • Work standardization: All appropriate documentation was updated by the team(s) to reflect new work procedures based on successful idea implementation(s)
  • Action plans: Team(s) completed action plan(s) detailing tasks, responsibility for each task, and due dates as appropriate
  • Management report-out: Teams were prepared for their report-out sessions with management
  • Follow-up meetings: Meeting schedules were established for each team to follow-up on completion of their open action items
  • Measurements: Each team recorded their key measures before and after the event, measures were implemented as on-going for future tracking

Upon successful completion:

The candidate will be prepared to facilitate a final Kaizen event while being evaluated for certification.
