Are these some of the questions that you are asked?

Q: My company has placed an order with an overseas vendor. The shipment has arrived at port in the United States. What happens now?
A: Your company "makes entry" by declaring the shipment to US Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

Q: But doesn’t our Customs Broker do all of this for us?
A: It is true that importers commonly use the services of a professional called a Customhouse Broker to handle the importing formalities with CBP. Despite this, Customs regulations hold the importer accountable for the accuracy of the data and duties tendered. While Brokers strive to be accurate they must rely on information they receive from the importer. Importers must exercise a heightened degree of due diligence known as “reasonable care” to ensure that the entry information shared with CBP is accurate.

This one-day course provides with you with the fundamentals of importing and details the process of clearing cargo through U.S. Customs and into the U.S. It focuses on basic international business skills and how they relate to Customs' entry process. In addition to focusing on the import fundamentals, the full-day session will highlight minimizing import duties and fees.
