The BEC is offering a half-day session in Inventory Kanbans. Participants will learn how to develop and implement these visual signals to enhance material flow inside your organization. Proper Kanban design will simultaneously minimize inventory, while providing a materials management process that all employees can interpret and understand at a glance. Discussion topics will include Kanban types and material requirements calculations. Topics will be supported through in-class activities. Participants will also learn how Kanban and MRP can support each other in today’s dynamic business environment.

Pre-requisites: 5S Visual Enterprise, Setup Reduction, Total Productive Maintenance and Overview of Lean must be taken prior to Inventory Kanbans.

Inventory Kanbans content includes:

  • Kanban Prerequisites
  • Types of Kanbans
  • Calculating the Kanban levels
  • Selecting the Kanban signals and containers
  • Examples of Kanban movement
  • Sending the Kanban signals
  • The nine rules of Kanbans

Upon completion, you will be able to:

  • Define the terms associated with Kanban
  • Calculate appropriate Kanban sizes for various applications
  • Establish the relationship between Kanbans and MRP
  • Understand where Kanbans start in an organization and who drives the system
