The BEC is offering a one day session in Kaizen Event Preparation and Facilitation. This session explores how to conduct a Kaizen event – from preparation for the event through follow-up on the improvement activities. Special consideration is given to the roles of Team Facilitator and Team Leader in the process.

Pre-requisite: Process Cells and Overview of Lean must be taken prior to attending Kaizen Event Preparation and Facilitation.

Kaizen Event Preparation and Facilitation content includes:

  • Definition of Kaizen in Japan and the U.S.
  • What a Kaizen event will and will not accomplish
  • Requirements for the Kaizen Event Facilitator and Team Leader
  • The 15 steps for conducting a Kaizen Event
  • The 10 guidelines of Kaizen

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how to select a work site for a Kaizen event
  • Understand how to set goals for the event
  • Understand who should be selected for the Kaizen team and why
  • Prepare the facility and the work site for the event
