At the heart of every world class organization is an empowered workforce and a shared believe that every associate has something to offer to help the organization achieve their desired outcomes. It is with this in mind that an individual responsible for leading improvements within an organization must function. They must learn the skill of helping others to feel comfortable to create a willingness to contribute. During this session a designated team leader will be evaluated on their ability to gain team involvement as it relates to the desired outcomes of the event and the goals of the organization.

The team facilitator will facilitate a single team where the person being evaluated is focused on that team only.

Prerequisites

Team Building and Advanced Team Building classes as well as the course the event is covering (i.e. 5S, Manufacturing Cells, Inventory Kanbans, Setup Reduction, etc.).

Candidates will be evaluated in the following areas:

  • Understood the event objectives as defined on the Team Package, reviewed those with the team prior to start of team activity
  • Reviewed key training points with the team as needed to ensure understanding of the training objective (i.e. 5S, TPM, etc.)
  • Helped team develop an action plan for incomplete activities detailing tasks, responsibility for each task, and due dates as appropriate without dictating those tasks and assignments
  • Encouraged participation by all team members, obtained participation without making team members feel uncomfortable
  • Facilitated problem solving activities following the appropriate rules for brainstorming, consensus, and multi-voting as appropriate; reviewed rules with team members before beginning the activity
  • Checked for consensus within the team for all decisions made by the team, ensured all team members supported the idea before implementation began
  • Provided or obtained resources for the team as needed
  • Used questions appropriately to understand the teams reasoning for their decisions or prevent the team from rushing into inappropriate action plans
  • Observed the interaction between team members, helped teams resolve their internal conflicts
  • Provided guidance for the team without controlling the teams decisions or directing their activities
  • Listened to the ideas of all team members, ensured all team members listened to each other
  • Watched the team process within the team, helped team members understand this process and assisted with improving the team dynamic

Upon successful completion:

The candidate will be prepared for the final step toward LMFC: Kaizen Event Facilitation.
