The BEC is offering a half-day session on Setup Reduction. This session addresses the need for faster setup times in the manufacturing process. Reducing setup times increases production capacity and improves customer satisfaction without adding resources and increasing costs.

Pre-requisite: Overview of Lean must be taken prior to attending Setup Reduction.

Setup Reduction course content includes:

  • How setup reduction decreases inventory and increases quality
  • Definitions of setup time as well as internal and external elements of setup time
  • The four goals of setup reduction
  • The seven rules of setup reduction
  • Continuous improvement of the setup process

Upon completion of the BEC's Setup Reduction, participants will be able to:

  • Define the setup reduction process
  • Identify opportunity areas for setup reduction
  • Learn how 5S/Visual Enterprise positively impacts setup reduction
