The Project Management Lead Certificate training guides you in building in-depth knowledge and skills in three critical areas for delivering successful projects:

  • First, you have the opportunity to apply pragmatic tools and techniques for enhancing project control and the potential for success.
  • Second, you gain experience in connecting projects to the larger business economic picture for your company/organization. Additionally, you practice developing business propositions to evaluate the return on investment for projects.
  • Third, you explore the human side of projects. You learn how to influence individuals and integrate resources through consistent communication, collaboration, cooperation, and coordination. You learn the importance of understanding your own strengths and softspots prior to evaluating and capitalizing on the strengths of others.

The Lead Certificate training is the second level of project management training developed and facilitated specifically by experienced practitioners, who are part of MSOE’s Rader School of Business. The training is aligned with the nine Project Management Institute (PMI) competencies outlined in PMBOK®. The training is based on sound concepts and grounded in practical applications. Once you successfully complete this comprehensive training, you will be one step closer to successfully passing the PMP Certification Examination.

The seven-session Project Management Lead Certificate training program prepares you and your team to better organize, implement and control projects. Each of the seven, full-day sessions uses an integrated approach so you learn advanced aspects of project management that are immediately applicable to your current projects. The training provides you with the tools and knowledge necessary to manage a wide range of projects, regardless of the environment or industry. The training can also be customized for your company or specific areas in your company and facilitated with intact project teams. Customization in project management areas can include new product development, capital projects, materials, human resources, information technology, and service. This allows your project teams to immediately apply your company’s tools and templates, thus achieving a critical mass sooner. In today’s competitive environment, a few months can make a significant difference between success and failure.

Even individuals, such as certified SixSigma Black Belts, have commented that their projects would have gone more smoothly if they had completed the project management training sooner. Project management, Lean, and SixSigma are not mutually exclusive, they are mutually inclusive.

Course content includes:

  • project planning, execution and financial management

  • utilizing Microsoft® Office Project as a management tool

Upon completion, you will be able to:

  • develop and manage a comprehensive project plan
  • plan for and control the use of resources
