Lean Training Opportunities

MSOE’s Business Excellence Consortium has several levels of Lean training to provide the necessary knowledge and skills at all levels of the organization. Each level is specifically designed to provide the proper skill level so that the individual can deliver the type of results needed for successful continuous improvement.

A3 for Problem-Solving

The A3 process allows you to graphically depict problem solving, which encourages people to focus their thinking and clarifies links between the problem, root cause, and solution.

Lean Associate Certificate

Three-day course that prepares you to be a part of a Lean team or event. Based on modules from Lean Lead Facilitator training course.

Lean Office Deployment Workshop

This two-day workshop applies the Lean thinking and methods that have proven successful in manufacturing to office and transactional processes to improve quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.


Training Courses

Lean Lead Facilitator© Certificate

This three-week course provides the individual with the knowledge and skills to lead Lean teams and initiatives within their organization. Using a modular design, it enables individuals and organizations to select those areas that best fit their needs or to complete the entire certificate.

Lean Kaizen Leader© Certificate

This three-week course, plus two Kaizens, provides the training and hands-on experience for the individual who will be leading Lean Kaizen teams. It effectively mixes classroom knowledge and skills development with actual Kaizen events, both as a participant and as a leader. It prepares the individual to successfully select and lead Lean Kaizen teams while aligning these projects with key business goals.

Lean Leader® Certificate

This one-week course builds on the Lean Kaizen Leader training to prepare the individual to not only lead Lean teams, but to conduct Lean implementation planning and design. It shows the individual how to identify Lean opportunities and establish high-level milestones that help in building a business, or ROI, case for a Lean project. In addition, to earn a certificate, participants must complete two Kaizen events, which will be reviewed by a Lean Master.

Lean Office Deployment Leader©

A practical approach to Lean that uses training materials specifically designed for office and transactional applications. The workshop is interactive and participants create a current and future state value stream map based on a realistic business case.
