The BEC is offering a one-day session in Problem Solving – 8D process. This session addresses effective methods of problem solving by applying the process approach to the eight disciplines. Participants have the opportunity to work on various problems either presented by the instructor or supplied by the participants. If possible, bring any or all of the following: examples, parts, prints, photos, digital photos to the session.

Content:

  • Analysis of the eight disciplines
  • Close corrective action requests effectively and completely
  • Customer’s expectation and supplier’s response
  • Discuss techniques for effective corrective action closure
  • 8D or team-oriented problem solving process approach
  • Forms to ensure complete 8D process application
  • Increase root cause analysis accuracy
  • Problem solving techniques, such as:
  • Brainstorming
  • Cause and effect diagrams (Ishikawa)
  • Decision Matrix
  • Is/Is not
  • Five "Why"
  • Pareto

Upon completion, you will be able to:

  • Accurately apply key concepts, such as, root cause, cause and effect and problem solving methodologies
  • Improve CAR closure effectiveness, conduct problem solving in a simplified and effective manner, examine typical corrective action requests to identify major response pitfalls
  • Maintain records to demonstrate 8D process effectiveness and to analyze process methodology
  • Use the process approach to ensure all the eight disciplines are effectively applied
