The BEC is offering a one-day session in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Participants will learn effective methods of performing product and process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis. This session is based on the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) – Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) Manual. Participants are encouraged to bring samples or existing FMEAs, process descriptions, flow charts and photos in order to perform actual FMEA’s.
Content:
- Analyzing processes to:
- Apply controls to prevent errors (failure modes)
- Approach the goal of an error-free product/process launch
- Identify potential errors before they happen
- Shift emphasis from defect detection to defect prevention
- Benefits of performing FMEA's
- Critical factors in completing FMEA's
- Eliminating or minimizing effects of potential failures using control methods
- Gaining maximum FMEA effectiveness
- Ideas for other applications
- Risk evaluation and risk management
Upon completion, you will be able to:
- Address potential failure modes using root cause analysis
- Analyze completed FMEA's with the “critical eye” of the customer
- Apply valuable resources to areas producing maximum return
- Identify opportunities to use FMEA's
- Perform potential Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
- Positively impact quality, cost, delivery, profit and customer perception by applying proven techniques and utilizing valuable problem solving and mistake proofing processes
- Streamline the FMEA process to avoid typical pitfalls and maximize return on effort
