Safety

For more information about Safety:
Safety is a vast, all-encompassing area and must engage all associates at every level to take ownership for their own safety and everyone around them in the workplace and at home. With education and training the culture becomes Zero Tolerance for accidents and injuries 24/7. This results in a decrease in Total Recordable Incident Rates, Lost Time Incident Rates, Number of Corrective Actions (Machine/equipment repairs), Total Paid Claims, Experience Modification Rate Reductions, which all results in a safer workplace, improving the bottom line and productivity.

Based on a no-fee Safety Needs Assessment a customized training plan is determined and implemented over a 12-month period of time.

Behavioral Based Safety Training is designed to create a mindset that accidents are not acceptable and that all employees must continuously work on prevention of accidents. Behaviors are the leading cause of injuries, not machines not conditions. Creating the mindset of thinking safe 24/7 is the most effective way to decrease accidents, injuries and insurance costs. Companies know that they can incur some savings through compliance, but many do not realize that an injury prevention mindset will return far greater business benefits.

The training is customized for each company by reviewing individual safety records, best practices and safety programs currently in place. An Experience Modification Rate or Paid Claim Analysis is performed to determine where workers compensation costs and injuries can be reduced. The analysis will also show companies how to get a return on their investment for safety programs.

Based on the complete analysis, a service plan is developed and implemented. Part of the Service Plan includes benchmarking against other companies to determine individual total recordable and/or paid claim goals. Benchmarking is performed by comparing the subject company to national averages for the same type of industries.

Indirect & direct costs of injuries at specific profit margins are explained. Typically, the hidden costs of an injury or incident can be 2-5 times the sum of the hard dollar figure or direct cost. The goal is to illustrate to top management and all employees the cost of minor injuries, ways to reduce these costs and how they impact the bottom line.

The facilitator uses interactive presentation techniques including audience participation and role playing. All activities are designed to encourage effective communication between all levels in addition to team building and enhanced personal relationships with co-workers.

The following Operating Principals are rolled out:

  1. We strive to prevent all occupational injuries and illnesses
  2. Working Safely is a condition of employment
  3. Each of us is responsible and accountable for the safe behavior of ourselves and others
  4. Health and Safety is led by senior management, implemented by line management, with each level accountable to the one above and the one below
  5. All employees will have the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to work safely
  6. We will design H & S into everything we do
  7. Safety is Safety no matter what industry
  8. Safety is a process, not a program
  9. Good H & S performance is good business
